What do you hope to teach your daughter in your lifetime?
That girls and women are stronger, perhaps stronger than boys in many ways.
What was your proudest dad moment?
When Sofia was barely two years old, my father died. At his funeral, although 20 of her little cousins were running around playing at the funeral parlor, she sat quietly next to her 88-year old grandmother (my mom) holding her hand. No one told her to do that; she just knew that that was her place. She’s a very old soul.
What traditions do you hope to pass on to your daughter?
That family time is always the best time!
What is the hardest part about being a dad?
That she leaves me every day to go to school, which is why I am the room dad for her Pre-K class!

What makes your dad your hero?
I loved him because he was my Dad. He left Georgia to go into the Army so he didn’t have to pick cotton anymore and to see the world. He wanted to provide us with a better life and he did.

I hope to teach him the importance of being philanthropic, work ethic and building good relationships.
What was your proudest dad moment?
I am always proud when he takes it upon himself to find any way to help a child fulfill a wish. As part of our Friends Are By Your Side charity, we knew of a little boy, Jonah, who wanted to meet the Philadelphia 76ers. Brigade starting reaching out to everyone he knew to try to make it happen.
What traditions do you hope to pass on to your son?
Despite our chaotic lives, we have managed to spend every Christmas morning together. I hope he can pass this down to his family.
What is the hardest part about being a dad?
Finding the fine line between being a friend and a father. Wanting them to be safe but wanting them to be their own person, and being understanding when they are in trouble.
